Marty Mortrud

Research Associate, Sr.

Marty is a Senior Research Associate at the Allen Institute, where he has worked in varying roles for the last 14 years. He graduated from UCSD (Revelle) with a B.A. in Biology. He began work at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies for doing PHA tract tracing studies. He then went to Oregon Health Sciences University (Vollum Institute) and did oocyte injections for the production and characterization of transgenic mice to study promotor function. Marty then worked at Darwin Molecular/Celltech in Seattle, a disease gene discovery effort. Finally, he worked for Primal Inc. doing GPCR radioactive ISH prior to moving to his current position where he has been involved with numerous efforts including the Allen Connectivity Atlas and more recently virus purification.
