I currently work in the Applied Genomics group, primarily as an operator on the FACSAria flow cytometer sorters. Together with my colleague Nadiya Shapovalova, we provide both bulk and single-cell sorting services, isolating cells in support of analyses of transcriptomic data sets used to identify selectively expressed genes, in a layer or cell-type specific manner, from neocortex. This data in turn is leveraged to identify relevant enhancer regions, and used for development of viral reporters that can be utilized to help screen for specific gene expression in adult mouse and human neocortex. My previous experience includes 22+ years working in core flow cytometry labs at Immunex, and then Amgen, located in Seattle. We provided flow-based immunophenotypic analyses and cell sorting in support of multiple drug development projects. Preceding my years in biotech, I worked in a clinical pathology lab, using flow to provide immunophenotypic analyses of both solid tumor and blood cell-line cancers, as well as CD4/CD8 T cell counts. I was born and raised in Seattle, graduated from the Lakeside School, and then the University of Washington, with a degree in cell biology.
