Clare Gamlin, Ph.D.
Clare Gamlin joined the Allen Institute in 2019 as a member of the Morphology and 3D reconstruction team. Prior to joining the Institute, Clare earned her PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Washington. There, Clare studied the development and regulation of synaptic connectivity patterns within retinal microcircuits in Dr. Rachel Wong's lab. She earned her B.A. in Neuroscience from Vanderbilt University.
The morphology of a neuron restricts the potential pre- and postsynaptic partners of that cell and consequently shapes the role for that neuron within the circuit. I am interested in studying how morphology and connectivity of cortical neurons may be used to define specific cell types.
