Ashwin Bhandiwad, Ph.D.
Ashwin joined the Allen Institute in 2022 as a Scientist in the Data and Technology team. Ashwin is part of a team that works on developing frameworks to visualize, integrate, and standardize multimodal datasets into a common coordinate system and taxonomy. Previously, Ashwin was a postdoctoral scientist at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, where he identified neural circuits that regulate defensive behaviors in the larval zebrafish using behavior, computational and functional imaging, and molecular genetic approaches. Ashwin received a PhD in Psychology at the University of Washington, an MS in Marine Biology from Northeastern University, and a BA in Biophysics from Johns Hopkins University.
