Suraj joined the Allen Institute for Cell Science in 2022 as a Scientist on the Image Analysis team. He specializes in computational biology with a particular focus on computer vision and algorithm development. At the Institute, Suraj is dedicated to advancing our understanding of cellular organization and its variations by performing computational analysis on image-based assays.

He received his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology (Rourkela, India) and obtained his Master’s degree in Informtation Technology from the University of Stuttgart (BW, Germany). Suraj earned his Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame, where he worked in Danny Chen’s and Sharon Hu’s lab on a multi-disciplinary project investigating data-driven approaches for biomedical image analysis.
