Open Science Week | David J. Anderson, Ph.D.
As neuroscientist David Anderson, Ph.D., sat with his wife in a Pasadena restaurant in 2001, he explained his frustration in accessing brain gene expression data. He told her the field needed an institute to take an industrial scale approach to creating a gene expression atlas and openly share it. Later that year, Anderson was invited to one of the first visioning meetings for the Allen Institute. We've been openly sharing our data since day one.
